Meet our Keynote Presenter

Naeem Hussain FREng, FHKEng, FICE, FIStructE and IStructE 2022 Gold Medalist Fellow, Director and Global Bridge Leader at ARUP, Hong Kong

Naeem Hussain’s illustrated talk will describe the design and construction of small and large bridges of various configurations designed by Arup over a span of past 50+ years to achieve both economy and visually pleasing appearance. Naeem has made major contributions to bridge design on a global scale which reflects his background in both architecture and engineering. His work includes the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, Shenzhen Bay Bridge in Hong Kong, Oresund Link Denmark-Sweden, Stonecutters Bridge Hong Kong, Gerald Desmond Bridge Los Angeles, Brunei Temburong Bridge, and tender design for George Massey Tunnel Replacement Bridge in Richmond BC. Naeem was awarded the IStructE 2022 Gold Medal. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, and Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences. He was awarded the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Prince Philip medal for his ground-breaking work on some of the world’s most iconic bridges. He was inducted into the Scottish Engineering Hall of Fame in 2016.
